Astra gets 'comprehensive makeover'

Wed, 13 May 2009
People who are planning on buying a car later this year may be impressed by the complete makeover the Vauxhall Astra has received.

The manufacturer suggested motorists may struggle to find anything the revised model has in common with its predecessors.

Marketing Director Andy Gilson said: "The only part of the Astra which isn't new is its name."

Prospective buyers were advised the car has a distinctive exterior appearance, while being spacious and luxurious inside.

Vauxhall also said handling and comfort levels have been improved through the use of adaptive damping.

Mr Gilson stated he was convinced the vehicle's exciting design, outstanding technology and great driver appeal would attract a wide range of customers.

The car makes its debut at the Frankfurt motor show at the beginning of autumn and will arrive in showrooms up and down the UK before the end of the year.

In other motoring news from Vauxhall, the manufacturer recently reported it sells a couple of parking sensor systems that could be useful for people trying to squeeze into tight spots in busy city centres.
