Sorento gets makeover

Thu, 02 Apr 2009
People who expect to be buying a car next year when they trade in their current model may want to take a look at the latest offering from Kia.

The Sorento has been given a makeover so that it is lower and longer than its predecessor.

First released in 2002, the model changed the public perception of Kia, the company claimed.

It stated up until that point it had been regarded as a small car specialist.

The latest version of the Sorento is due to be unveiled at the Seoul Motor Show, although it will not arrive in UK showrooms until 2010.

Kia's chief design officer Peter Schreyer said: "The dynamic design of new Sorento adopts simple, linear lines to create a powerful yet polished appearance."

Meanwhile, those keen to reduce their carbon footprint may welcome the news CO2 emissions for the model start at 173 g/km.

In other news, the beginning of the month saw prices for the majority of Kia models increase by about three per cent.
