Renault may be right car for the recession

Thu, 23 Apr 2009
Budget-conscious motorists looking at buying a car this summer may be impressed by the latest offering from Renault.

The entry-level Megane Hatch Extreme is described by the manufacturer as "frugal, refined and stylish".

Priced from £13,250, the vehicle is available to order immediately and first deliveries of the model are due in June.

The car's standard features include air conditioning, electric front windows and a music system with MP3, radio and CD player.

Commenting on the value for money offered by the model, Renault stated: "The chic French newcomer undercuts its significantly lesser-powered rival - the five-door Ford Focus Studio 1.4 Duratec 80PS - by a considerable £1,540."

The manufacturer also pointed out the Extreme is £1,825 cheaper than the new Volkswagen Golf S five-door 1.6 102PS.

In related motoring news, the new Renault Grand Scenic goes on sale in the UK in May, with prices ranging from £14,995 to £23,695.
