Nissan to release new supermini

Thu, 09 Apr 2009
Cash-strapped drivers looking at buying a car that can help them reduce their motoring costs may be impressed by the latest model from Nissan.

Due to arrive in UK showrooms in June, the Pixo slots into the manufacturer's supermini line-up below the Micra and Note.

Prices for the car will start at less than £6,000 - and the company claimed buyers will continue to make savings once they get the vehicle home.

It pointed out the model offers fuel economy of 64.2 mpg, meaning motorists may be able to reduce the amount they spend at the pump.

The firm also highlighted the fact that owners will qualify for cheap road tax, as the car boasts CO2 emissions of 103 g/km.

It concluded: "Expected rivals include the Hyundai i10, Kia Picanto and Toyota Aygo, yet this trio can't match Pixo's credit crunch-busting sub-£6,000 price point."

Drivers may find the model also qualifies for cheap car insurance as a result of its relatively small engine size.
