New Mazda2 could be good choice for cash-strapped motorists

Wed, 22 Apr 2009
Motorists looking at buying a car in the next couple of months may want to consider a new addition to the Mazda line-up.
The Mazda2 1.6D Sport is available in three-door and five-door editions and drivers who are tightening their belts at the moment may find the model is a cost-effective option.
With carbon dioxide emissions of 112 g/km, the car falls under road tax band C - so buyers would be eligible to pay £35 annually.
In addition to this, the vehicle is capable of 67.3 mpg on a combined cycle, meaning it could save motorists money at the pump.
Meanwhile, in terms of performance, the model is able to accelerate from standing to 63 mph in 11.4 seconds.
Sales and marketing director with Mazda Mark Cameron said: "It is the naturally sporty choice for supermini car buyers."
In related motoring news, the updated Mazda3 is due to arrive in showrooms next month.
