New Kia developed in the UK

Tue, 20 Jan 2009
The Kia Soul has been developed in the UK, with British roads in mind, it has been claimed.

Following a collaboration with Norfolk-based automotive consultancy Lotus - which has worked on adapting the Soul's bump stops and suspension settings for UK driving - the new model will be available from March.

Kia has also put the car through secret testing, with data being sent to research and development teams in Europe and the factory in Korea.

Managing director at Kia Motors UK Paul Philpott commented: "Soul is a very exciting product for Kia and for our customers.

"It has a unique look and style and will bring something fresh to the UK market with several innovations."

He added the manufacturer expects British drivers who have not previously considered buying a car from the company to be attracted by the Soul.

In other motoring news from Kia, the South Korean firm announced its global year-on-year sales increased by 8.4 per cent in 2008.
