New car could be smart choice

Motorists looking at buying a car which has good green credentials and could save them money at the pump may want to consider smart's latest model.

Scheduled to arrive in UK showrooms in March, the smart cdi may also help drivers cut the cost of their insurance premiums as a result of its small engine size.

The vehicle is capable of 83.1 mpg and the manufacturer pointed out it emits less carbon dioxide than any other production car on the market - at 88 g/km.

Commenting on the benefits of opting for a smart model, Dermot Kelly, managing director at Mercedes-Benz UK, said the manufacturer's "reputation for affordability and economy is growing and the range is being considered by an increasing number of motorists who are seeking to reduce their motoring costs".
