Fiat 500 is "terrific value for money"

Tue, 09 Dec 2008
People thinking about buying a car in the coming months could get a good deal at Fiat, it has been claimed.

The manufacturer said the recent 2.5 drop in VAT meant motorists can now get their hands on its 500 model for less than £8,000.

Since prices were reduced - following Alistair Darling's pre-Budget report - the entry-level 1.2-litre Pop version costs £7,929.

Commenting on the vehicle, Fiat's marketing director in the UK Elena Bernardelli said: "It has been praised for its style, eco-friendliness, road manners and economy."

She added the recent price cut means the model "has reaffirmed its terrific value for money".

All of Fiat's other cars have also benefited from the fall in VAT.

Motorists can now buy a Panda from £6,859 and a Grande Punto for £9,056, while prices for the Multipla people carrier start at £13,751.

In related motoring news, a special edition 500 - designed by Fiat in collaboration with the clothing label Diesel - recently went on sale exclusively online.
