New BMW may appeal to gadget-lovers

Wed, 19 Nov 2008
Motorists who like cars to include a range of gizmos may be impressed by the latest addition to BMW's range.

The manufacturer claimed the launch of the new fifth generation 7 Series earlier this month "heralded the arrival of a host of world-first driver and passenger-focussed technologies".

Gadget-loving drivers looking at buying a car may be tempted by the model, which features a speed limit display as standard and also comes with the option of a lane warning system.

The vehicle also offers Integral Active Steering - four-wheel turning.

According to BMW, this has improved steering responsiveness and makes for a more composed ride when travelling at speed and allows for a smaller turning circle when the driver takes their foot off the gas.

In addition to this, buyers will be able to have side view cameras fitted - which the manufacturer stated would work well with the car's park distance control system.

Meanwhile, a poll of UK leasing companies named the BMW 3 Series the most reliable vehicle.
