Millions of pounds worth of cars to line the grid at Revival

Mon, 15 Sep 2008
Drivers who swear by used cars may be interested to hear that this year's Goodwood Revival is to host some of the most expensive historic vehicles around.

Experts from the car auctions company Bonhams have estimated the models taking part on the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration race are collectively worth approximately £85 million.

Among the vehicles taking to the grid will be a number of Chevrolet Corvettes, two Shelby American Cobra Daytonas and an Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato.

Meanwhile, there will also be a number of famous names behind the wheels of these models, including Martin Brundle, Derek Bell and Christian Horner.

Commenting on the race, Bonhams' international head of motor cars James Knight said: "I think we can safely say this is the most valuable grid of racing cars ever assembled for any historic race anywhere."

Organisers of the event expect claim it will have particular significance as it is the tenth year of the Revival meeting and the 60th anniversary of motor racing at Goodwood.
