Hyundai i800 named number one towcar

Mon, 29 Sep 2008
People considering buying a car which they intend to use for towing may want to take a look at the Hyundai i800, following the results of road tests carried out by the Caravan Club.

The organisation has named the model towcar of the year in the £16,000 to £20,000 class after taking into consideration its abilities in a number of areas, including hill starts, acceleration and braking.

Hyundai claimed the vehicle is perfect for people going caravanning as it offers good visibility and a tight turning circle.

Meanwhile, the judges on the Caravan Club panel said: "The i800 is a cracking load carrier, shows a lovely attitude when hitched and good access to towing sockets."

The car can carry up to eight passengers and still provides some 851 litres of boot space.

In related news, Auto Express magazine voted Hyundai's used car scheme the best in Britain earlier this year.
