Concept vehicle from Mini among new cars at Paris Motor Show

Wed, 10 Sep 2008
In motoring news which may be of interest to people considering buying a car, Mini is to unveil a crossover concept model at next month's Paris Motor Show.

According to the manufacturer, the car, which is four metres long, "combines versatility and style".

It claims although the new model will retain some typical Mini features – such as locating the wheels in the corners to produce a go kart feel – it also includes a number of impressive innovations.

One change which has been made is the rear passenger door on the driver's side has been fitted with a sliding mechanism to promote convenient access and loading.

There is also a frameless, retractable window at the back which opens in a way which makes it easy to transport long items such as snowboards and skis.

It is expected that a production car based on the concept vehicle will eventually appear in showrooms across the UK.

Earlier this year, Mini's John Cooper Works was voted Best Hot Hatch 2008 by Auto Express.
