WRX STI pricing 'shocks auto industry'

Fri, 30 Nov 2007
Subaru has called the pricing of its new WRX STI vehicle an incredulous move.

Motorists will be able to pick up the car for £24,995 on-the-road, £1,600 cheaper than originally expected, with orders being taken from March.

The vehicle is based on those which compete in the World Rally Championship (WRC) and was unveiled by the firm at the Bologna Motor Show in November.

Subaru commented that fuel consumption has been improved from previous models, while its top speed is close to 155.3 mph.

"With a heavily-revised new 300 PS turbocharged 2.5 litre boxer engine, totally new platform and suspension plus even more advanced symmetrical all-wheel drive system, the World Rally Championship look-alike is sure to satisfy Subaru traditionalists," it commented.

Subaru first competed in the WRC in 1993, with the late Colin McCrae driving the Impreza and becoming the sport's most well-known face.ADNFCR-1081-ID-18376381-ADNFCR
