Peugeot 306 - key fob - neil54

can any one give me advice on my key,car wont start so took key to auto shop the seller put key in machine said there was no transponder in key,would this cause car not to start.thanks for any help.

You do not make it clear if this has just happened and was ok before or you have just aquired the vehicle and it has not started since you have owned it.I have a 307 with three keys two open the doors remotely and run the car ok the third is a plain key no electronics no transponder no anything you have to physically undo the locks but it still starts the car ok.Reading the manual will tell you if one is required but I think not.

Interesting that the car starts with no transponder in the key.Why then,do peugeot fit chips in your other keys?Is there a security issue with 307 models?

The chip in key in my 307 appears to open the doors only.

Just had another look to make sure, it is as I said works in the car perfectly its a basic key no innards issued from Peugeot when the car was new.
