Peugeot 106d - oil leak - kervoucher

I have just noticed oil dripping from the front end of the engine possibly from under the cambelt cover. This is clean oil (not engine) perhaps gear oil. Can anyone suggest a possible cause and cure?

Have a carefull check around the fuel injection pump, I think it will be diesel leaking, probably from a shaft seal.

The later TUD5 engines sometimes leak oil if they are filled to max on the dipstick. This is becuse PSA increased the oil volume to prolong servicing intervals without testing it properly.

When I had a 106D nearly new, it had a similar leak (and a slightly wet cambelt). Before tearing into the engine, I did a car park test (looked at a few others - nearly all wet) and studied PSA's "documentation" which revealed that the oil volume in this engine had mysteriously increased with no changes to the sump.

So, as a cheap trial, I reduced the oil level to correspond to 3/4 of the distance between max and min. It's very important to check the oil hot on this engine, after a 5 minute stand. Cold readings are always wrong due to an airlock in the dipstick tube.

Now at 176k miles, the same car is still in the family - running well and oil tight.

If you want to remove a little oil from this engine, take the filter off and drain it into a container. Replace, and start engine - repeating as necessary.

Sorry, just realised you said clean oil. Check fuel pump as above.
