Skoda Fabia - Buying a car previously owned for 3 months- Sus? - leafydrive

So, I've found a Sloda Fabia. Looks pretty good, lots of service history including invoices. 2004 model 90k miles. Reasonably priced, I'm test driving it towmorrow.

However, the guys only owned it for a few months and his reason for selling is he needs something bigger. Is it even worth going to look?

Thanks

Is his name and address on the V5, or is he trying to hide the fact he's dealer?

I'm seeing the car tommorrow, so will check the log book and make sure it's his details on there. He might be a very occasional dealer as I google'd his number and there was one other car for sale that came up a long while back. But that was it.

So, ive now google'd his ebay username and it seems like he enjoys shopping for car parts, and there was a polish website which referenced him as a mechanic.

Interesting.

Why is buying a secondhand car never a straightforward experience. It seems to bring out the mercenary element in people. Earlier today I went to see a lovely Skoda Fabia that turned out to be an ex-police car, and the interior has a lingering smell that reminded me of mouldy dog.

The way I operate is, if something doesn't sit right with me then I walk away.

Well done!

Keep that olfactory gland of yours alert, it'll stand you in good stead.

It'll be a decent enough car for someone, but I like my cars, and like to keep them for many years. So I wouldn't touch this one with a barge pole.
