Hi there,

I've got a rather unusual problem with my A3. Every 300 to 500 miles the car will stall about a mile and a half down the road at a junction. Each time this happens the car will not start again. It turns over and over but will not fire.

The only way to get it to start again is to spray easy start into the air intake. Imediately it will then start. Sound lumpy to begin with and then after 5 mins of driving, its as if nothing was ever wrong.

I can then get 300 to 500 miles of driving with many start -stops inbetween before the same thing happens again.

I've had the injectors tested and although they were all showing lower than expected flow rates the garage say they dont think it is them that is causing the problem.

Any help would be very much appreciated

Which engine code does the car have?

The engine code is BKD. Have you got any ideas?

Two possibilities spring to mind IF it has had a code read that comes up blank. One is the in tank fuel lift pump and the other, more likely, one is the crankshaft speed sensor which is a common failure on the BKD engine BUT it is a sod to replace.
