Citroen C5 Auto diesel estate 2008 June - Auto lift/lower suspension - frc5uk

Before entering the car i noticed that the back end was sitting down at the back. Once i started, there was a slight knock/bump and it raised up to its normal position. Had it checked visually to the rear underside where the height adjustment is and all appears ok. It has happened a couple of times. Any ideas?

Im not sure about this model but it used to be normal for the rear suspension on Cireoens to drop if parked for a while. As long as they rise once the engine is started. You can check the oil levels to see if it needs topped up.

No, that all stopped with the Xantia onwards. They no longer sink down when not used. I doubt it's the hydropneumatic fluid on such a new car, unless there are signs of a fluid leak underneath.

More likely to be something simple with the raise/lower switch in the cargo area.

Get it to a Citroen specialist or to the dealer.

Agreed, in fact when C5 first came out there were cases of cars being damaged when tied down the usual before then underbody method during transportation on road, the suspension would try to maintain height leading to extreme increasing pressure being applied to the tie downs, the first mass production car we were obliged to tie down only by chock and wheelstrap method as i recall.

edit...of course some drivers neglected to put them at full height before securing down, leading to the above problem.

That suspension system always led to securing problems and the handbrake operating on the front wheels made you think a bit too with sliding transporter decks.

Hi, I am having the exact problem on my c5 saloon New shape 2008 exclusive, been to Citroen for diagnostic and isn't 100% but thinks it's the height positioning valve which costs £500 just for the part. Being such an expensive part he said needs to be sure and so do I before they suggest replacing it

Did you sort your car out? If so, what was it?

Have read on other forum it could be circuit board near pump which tells the valve to close

Any help would be appreciated thanks
