EU scrappage scheme on the way? - daveyK_UK
Apparently, some high profile German bankers and other EU busy bodies have today discussed bringing in a EU funded car scrappage scheme to help boost falling car sales and the manufacturing industrys.
No details on what it will include.
And I cant find no mention of it in the UK press.
My German client said the talks took place today.

Watch this space.

This sort of thing will cause a big hoo-ha here if becomes EU legislation, and then the French will ignore it and the Germans will make it work properly and not end up scrapping perfectly good cars like during our scheme a few years ago.

I got my KIA Pride before the last scrappage for fifty quid.

I still don't want to get rid of it.

They discuss lots of things everywhere doesn't mean people take it seriously.Maybe Opel are behind it to try and sell some cars they certainy need to.

Well its good they are at least discussing how to best to throw away the £50 million plus we pay them every day.

As its EU which exists to serve German manufacturing, i wonder if this could be the forerunner to an age restriction on cars?

If anything happens no doubt our very own Nigel Farage will spell it out for those hard of hearing.

Spain have revived their scrappage scheme for 2013 - old car must be at least 12 years old and you will have a €2000 subsidy. Can't see a large take-up - people driving 12-y-o cars tend not to buy new even with a subsidy

2.27 Billion litres of fuel LESS sold in the first half of 2012 (same report), so how much has that lost the Chancellor in tax receipts, so He will probably UP the duty and other taxes to make up the shortfall. We have given up all but essential motoring now. Tried the train to London recently, seating BETTER on easyjet and ryanair.. and that is saying something.... train was bursting at the seams from Reading onwards, on top of which cost more than the petrol cost of the car. Thanks Rickyboy!

OK, let's hope they offer a good price for lesser fuel efficient cars, I might just be tempted.
