Driver's side spring broken and replaced with the wrong one perhaps?

you could be right, i changed pasenger side thinking it was broken but some one said it could have an up rated spring on drivers side, the drivers side spring has larger gaps than the passenger side, i am going to put the spring i took off and put it on drivers side to see if that sorts it.

Needn't even be an uprated one. Springs settle with age and if the driver's side one was replaced on it's own at some point, a 1" height difference could well be the result.

Just one of the many reasons why springs should always be replaced in pairs.
