Toyota - LPG and air conditioning - Gregory II

Hello beackroom

Is there a method whereby a vehicle is converted to run on LPG, and this system can be used to bring air conditioning to the vehicle itself. I have noticed that LPG is very cold as a liquid and it would be good to use this for the cabin.

Thanks

GREG

It's a nice idea in theory but, no, engine coolant is used to stop the mixer/injectors from icing over.

Any volatile liquid will drop rapidly in temperature when it evaporates, that's basically what the the refridgerant in you aircon is, but you need the appropriate compression/expansion equipment to go with it.

The issue you have is the massive range of fuel flow rates from idle to peak power. This makes it difficult to size the heat exchanger. If you size it get a decent temperature drop at idle then it would be swamped at full power and would ice up. If you size it to cope with full power then you don't get a decent temperature drop at low fuel flow rates.

The air conditioning tends to work hardest when the car is started from rest-when it is usually running on petrol...
