Mazda 3 - How to check for ECU/ABC/ESP fault on Mazda 3 - mr sussex

Hi all,

My wife is after a Mazda 3 04/05 model, but I am a bit paranoid about the expensive ECU fault that is showing-up on these cars.

I have heard that if the ECU is unplugged, there is no indication of the fault.

Can anybody tell me where to look to make sure the ECU is plugged in and what to look for to check for this fault? Is there a way to tell if the fault is impending?

If the abs ecu is unplugged,then the abs light will be on permanently.Also the speedo will not work.The only way to check for any current or stored faults is to have a diagnostic test.hth
