I would stay well clear full stop. Buy a fabia vrs like i wish i had done. I had the displeasure of owning a 2008 series 2 for 3 and a half years and 100000 motorway miles. Granted, mines was a high mileage example. In the 3 years a owned it it had 2 new gearboxes inc dmf and clutch, a new turbo, 4 egr valves, 1 head gasket, steering rack and box, ecu for traction control and hill holder, new radiator, air in condenser ,air bag module, corrosion on the body and 2 new alloys due to corrosion. This is what I can remember. There was more. Mine had a full fiat service history with oil changes every 9k. Plus mine was driven gently, cruise control set at 65, was lucky to get 42 combined. Just manages to change it for a Toyota, mush happier now.

Well I went to look at it, while the car drove lovely, the diesel's really pull like a train, the rear door handles didn't work, the paint work was scratched to hell and the rear seat belts are too short for our car seat.

I'm rapidly running out of car options. Focus and Mazda 3 are out due to short rear belts too.

I always thought Fiats were near the top in reliability surveys, along with Renault and Peugeot they always seem to gets lots of points. Toyota, Honda, Mazda etc always seem to get none.

I'm surprised that a car like the Focus would have belts too short for a child seat - maybe your seat is an unusual model?

My daughter is a nanny and all manner of seats have gone in the back of a succession of Toyota Yarises. A Yaris or Corolla / Auris will be worth a look - also try the Honda Jazz.

You'd be surprised. Our car seat is a Silver Cross Ventura group 0+, there's loads of them out there, and it's actually a smaller one! We also tried a Maxi Cosi in the focus, same problem, and the maxi cosi is the most popular car seat.

The Mazda 3 I tried had the same problem. If you look on the internet there are virtually zero Group 0+ car seats that fit using a seat belt in a 2004+ Focus.
