nissan 100 nx - price of used car - bebop256

i bought my nissan 100nx privatley for £500 with 9 months mot and 4 months tax.

i was wondering why the cost of these vese cars are so low compared to other cars of a simialr age and type?

the ones on ebay seem to go for next to nothing, not even sold at £400?

i had mine for 2 years and nothing wrong with it. and not many left on the road now.

are they really that awful or is there some other reason i'm not aware of?

Welcome to the forum.

I'm struggling to remember the 100NX - wasn't it a coupe version of the Sunny? In which case it'll have had a good reputation for reliability but none for desirability or flair.

If you still have yours, the only hope would be to hang on for about 10 years more and maybe you'll have the last one left in the country.

Edit - I see from your other thread that you've PX'd it for an ancient Skoda Felicia. At this end of the market any purchase is a gamble, and you'll only save money if the gamble pays off and no expensive repairs are needed. Buying a car with a taped-up sunroof isn't an encouraging sign....

If the Nissan was going well, maybe you can get the dealer to swap it back again.

it was sporty body with a sunny engine.

it also had a targa roof. not much good in the UK. but nice if you went on a long drive on a clear summer day.

mine was definitely a head turner. bit like a poor mans 911.

The 100 NX was a coupe based on the last generation Sunny, and fitted with the 1.6 engine. Twin targa roof panels. Although reliable, it didn't do that well for sales - think weight sapped the performance a bit. Similar to the Toyota Paseo - which was a coupe based on the current Corolla

Because the UK market saw Nissans as boring, even the NX, SX & (to a lesser extent) the ZX.

Why is this? Beats me, but then again most things the GBP do or like does - soaps / reality shows / idiotic behaviour masquerading as talent shows.

The NX is actually quite cute.

I was tempted by a Nissan 300ZX last year and it was really reasonable (needed a few repairs which I was going to do myself), but I ended up having to put my money elsewhere unfortunately.
