Volkswagen Sharan - My internal door handle - snuggles

I have a 54 plate sharan, when I tried to open my drivers door, the handle didnt work and was loose.

I took the door panel off, and found that the brass T piece, that was supposed to be on the end of a short steel cable (similar in apperiance to the piece on a bicycle break handle) had snapped off.

Can I buy the cable on its own, or does this mean a complete new locking mechanism??

If I can buy the cable new, how hard is it to replace (I couldnt get the mechanism off of the key lock!!)

Looks like you can buy the cable assy on its own.Part #7m3837085.But you may have to remove the lock/latch unit to fit it.hth

Cheers, I had got the locking mechanism so far off, but i couldnt get it off the key lock, how do I get it off of the servo/ lock unit??

You will need to remove the external key barrel unit.Take a look on the rear edge of the door,there should be a plastic bung in line with the door handle.Take this out and there will be a locking screw,either a hex or torx head.Undo this and the lock barrel will slide out of the door.hth
