SEAT Leon - 2006 on VAG 1.9 105 tdi Injectors - boogercj

Just checking...the 1.9 105 PS TDI in the mk 2 SEAT Leon has Bosch Solenoid injectors, right? It does according to the VAG Diesel Engine wikipedia entry. Engine codes being either BKC, BLS or BXE.

This will strongly influence my choice of new (used) car.

I only thought the faulty injectors were fitted to the 2.0TDI engines...

I'm not sure. I've done quite a lot of internet research in the last couple of days and read quite a few related threads on this forum, and I haven't come up with a definitive answer. It sounds as though The Siemens Piezo actuator may have been fitted on all 1.9 PD's after about 2005 if you read through some threads, but then other info suggests, like you said that it's only the 2.0L and 1.6L PD that got those.

I've done my sums, and it looks like a '06/'07 SEAT Leon 1.9 TDI PD 105 might be the car for me. Doing 18K a year, 90% of which is between Devon and Hampshire on the A roads the fuel savings over a petrol car work out between £1000 and £1200 per year at current prices. BUT, and it's a big BUT, I would only want this car if I can be sure it's not got the Siemens Piezo injectors, due to the terrible time many others have had with them.

Anyone have a definitive answer? Or is it worth me phoning a dealer/local specialist?

£1200 saving on fuel is wiped out by the purchase price, so I'd still go petrol...

Even second hand? The fuel saving is £1200 per year and I aim to keep the car for at least 3, maybe 4 years. So that's a total fuel cost saving of between £3600 and £4800, assuming today's prices.

There's so much rhetoric over the whole diesel vs petrol thing, but for the sort of mileage I'm doing (18,000 PA) , I think a 5 or 6 year old VAG 1.9 PD diesel will see me through the next 4 years of ownership cheaper than the equivalent petrol car. Even if the maintainance costs are slightly higher for the diesel. Which they may or may not be.

Looking at the price the car I actually want, i.e a SEAT Leon Stylance of around 2006/2007 , the prices between the 1.9 PD diesel and 1.6 8v petrol models don't vary that much. My budget is under £6K.

Looking at this site, it woudl suggest I am correct in assuming the 2006 on 1.9 105 PD 8v has indeed got the Bosch injectors:

I'm sure you're right. The problem was definitely with a batch of Siemens injectors, and amongst all the correspondence on this forum I don't remember seeing any such issue with the 1.9 TDI.

I asked the same question here when looking for a Skoda with the right PD130 engine/injector/gearbox combination and had some very helpful replies:

Many thanks for that link, Oldtoffee. That thread has some definitive information from 659 FBE, who knows his stuff and can be relied on.
