I'm trying to fix the soft top on someones Jimny, the front section of the roof over the driver has a mounting rail , which was steel, now virtually rusted away.

The Suzuki dealer say that this rail for the Mk1 is over £300, but the guy reckons that the rail for the later model 'looks the same ' and only costs £138, problem is if it wont fit then I'm stuck with a useless part as there are no returns on specially ordered parts.

Is there anyone out there who knows whether the 2 parts are the same , but as one is "obsolete" it's twice as expensive ........ I don't want to end up in a flame war about whether the dealer has to take the part back or not , just whether it will fit or not.

As the body shell is unlikely to have changed much , you would think it would fit , but............
