Hi all,
I have a gearbox issue that needs resolving. The gearbox has been removed and is ready to go for repair, if need be (ie, if it works out less to replace it with a new gearbox, I'll do that).
I've been told that a gearbox inspection, just to open it up and take a quick look (ie, see if there's anything obviously wrong or not), would be £200. Does this sound like a reasonable amount? The guy wants £200 to repair it, so I'm having trouble understanding why just looking at it is the same price as the labour to fix it!
Does that sound right and if not, what should be a reasonable cost to take it to a gearbox technician for assessment?
