“Leave your car in third gear in a 30 limit; it’ll be easier to hear the engine, and so you’ll instinctively know when you’re speeding.”

“Stop making up your own speed limits. It doesn’t matter where you are: if you can’t see a speed limit sign at any point, drive at 30mph until you see one. It’s safer.”

“You should never stop looking for pedestrians. I even look under trucks and buses!”

I'll just do a dry run up to Caithness-to make sure I don't speed on the 'proper' journey then?

Isn't the Police pension provision generous enough that they don't have to dream up revenue generating wheezes like this?

I would hope that everybody knows that bathroom stops are sensible.

Pfff if I didn't listen to all that classic rock whilst commuting I think I'd go bonkers.

Absolutely spot on, and check gateways shop doorways, between cars and hedges for shadows or running dogs or errant footballs etc, constant scanning.

Don't get a lot of time any more for that, checking for cameras both static and moveable and glancing at the speedo in case slipped one mph over the limit of the day.

Thats why we have the number one mitigating excuse...i wasn't speeding.

But what if i then discover the road is 40mph? Surely i cant speed up? It wont be safe!!

Great! When did the Police start funding the publics petrol bill?

I overtook a truck earlier this week on the A12. Im sure Back Roomers will forgive me for not checking for a pedestrian under it.
