Skoda Octavia 1.8i dsg - car order being delayed - chris kaye

i have ordered a skoda from a main dealer and paid a deposit. I was given a delivery time of 12 to 14 weeks. The dealer is now telling me its 22 weeks. this is a major change to what i signed for is there any recourse as waiting nearly six months for a car is ridiculous

Do the terms and conditions of the order you signed, allow you to cancel the order, and get your deposit back, due to the delay in delivery. Ie - you signed the order expecting a maximum 14 week delivery, and now it is 22 weeks.

No its not refundable but as this is a major change from 14 to 22 weeks i was wondering if there was anything i could do.

You should have signed the order with the following phrase

"Time is of the essence"

Late delivery means you could walk away with the money as they had broken the contract.

Without that phrase it is out with the magnifying glass and the small print

Well done on ordering a fantastic car that is good value and also is a bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing with that engine gearbox combo. They truly are good value especially if you ordered with that VAT free special discount.

The delay will be because of the DSG gearbox, more demand than they can build for over all the VAG brands, a product of success. I originally wanted the DSG version of the VRS but my dealer was quite honest and told me to expect a wait so went manual.

What you can do however is get your order number from your dealer and contact Skoda UK direct for the build date. Skoda CS were actually very good when I was in contact with them for my car, although I was wanting a delay for Mar 1st delivery last year !

Spring 2011, I paid a deposit on a Superb estate and as i found out after 6 weeks of waiting, because I ordered the panoramic sunroof, delivery went out from 8 to 10 weeks to maybe 6 months, they couldn't confirm. I said to the dealer that was unacceptable, they agreed and I got my deposit back with zero hassle.

You were lucky.

Recently in Prague I got a Superb Estate fitted with the panoramic roof as a taxi. There's absolutely naff-all by way of headroom in the back with that option. I spent the entire journey with my cranium bouncing off the roof and I am not particularly tall (a shade over 6').

A standard Superb without this idiotic feature leaves me with a good few inches of gap between bonce and headlining.
