Toyota Corolla - "low oil pressure" - what's the problem? - CarUser2006

I have my "low oil pressure" warning light on and off when I press clutch down or when slow down. It goes back to normal after a while, or when I speed up again.
I checked the oil level, it looked ok within limit.

What are the possible causes? I want to get a little bit more knowledge before I just go to the local garage for them to have a look at.
It's a toyota corelloa car

Thanks

Two obvious possible causes - the engine's wearing out - or - a much thicker grade of oil than recommended has been used.

How well has the car been maintained? What grade of oil is in the car? When was the oil last changed?

Could be a faulty oil pressure switch.

Hi,

Is there any checks I can do to verify whether the engine wears out? Or will the mechanic find out by more advanced equipment?
It has clocked 110,000 miles, not sure this is when the engine starts to wear out.

Not sure about the grade of oil currently in the car (knows little about cars), but the oil was changed about 14 months ago. I am hoping the garage could get the right kind of oil when they changed the oil

14 month gaps between oil and filter changes is not a good way to prevent engine wear.

If the oil filter clogs, dirty oil will bypass the filter and be fed to the engine..
