Vw Polo - break fluid change in between services or can it w - rexmedorum

I understand the 1st break fluid change is due after 3 years and every 2 after that.

I used to do a higher than usual milage, but am now back to 1 service / year. However the car will be 3 years old in march 2012, where as the service is due in July. So I was wondering if I should have just a break fluid change in March (and an MOT in the mix maybe)? Or do I need to do a service too? Or could it even wait till the service? Bit confused!

I would just do the MoT in March followed by a brake fluid change during the regular service.

Brake fluid does absorb water over time and becomes less effective so that why the general thought is to change it every 2-3 years. Clearly brakes are important so worth doing this. also depends on what type of brake fluid you ahve , counld be either DoT 4 or DoT 5. Think 5 is slightly better at lasting a bit longer

Brake fluid might absorb water when its exposed to air -how often is that tests on five year old fluid showed absolutely no signs of h2o absorbtion just another way of garages to relieve the customer of his money.

Many cars, I suspect, never have their brake fluid changed during their whole lives. They're probably the ones in the scrap yard with the front end damage.
