rover 25 - coolant system / HG - mitchy8

I have had nothing but problems with my car over the years mainly the HG, water pump etc..........touch wood it has been fine since winter.............my car seems to have trouble with the very cold winters we have been having.............can anybody recommend which anti-freeze to use and whether i should have the coolant system flushed out by a mechanic.............i just want to do everything possible to avoid another knightmare winter..........the car wouldn't always start............one day is just starting overheating.....then it was fine in the afternoon and i never had anymore trouble with it

Lad at work bought one of these ended up getting a new engine fitted after 2x hg changes.

Buy quality anti freeze but test what you have it may be ok for -25 most are.

replace the header tank resovoir cap ! these are notorious for not holding pressure intermitantly and causing the water to boil. very common problem , well known amoungst Rover techs.

replace the cap !
