Hi

I developed an exhaust blow/slight rattle on acceleration a few months ago and was told by the mechanic that it would cost loads to fix as the fault was in the downpipe/cat area and that the pipe was loose. he said he would have to replace the whole front bit with the cat and pipe and that the part alone would cost in excess of £400

The rattle has now got much worse, although performance not affected!! it sounds like a tin being rattled with peas in!

Can anyone tell me if the part is this much? which part would I have to ask for if I was to source it myself? and is the info i've been given true? i.e the cat and pipe are 1 bit, not 2
