Ok, so I have seen a car that will suit my immediate needs. I am aware of SOGA so this is kind of a moot point. I asked about warranty and as per most indie dealers the seller has stated 3 months warranty. However, he has stipulated 3 months parts OR labour.

Is he wanting to have the cake and eat it?

Obviously I was expecting to hear parts AND labour.

Yes, but as you know, the waranty is in addition to SOGA & cannot be used by the seller to reduce his liability under SOGA; although this is presumably what he trying to do.

When I spoke to him this afternoon I stated that it would have to be parts AND labour in order for me to proceed. He agreed to this immediately without any protestation.

It is a small dealer in a local place for local people. He does not know me, but I fortunately know a few people who know him - so I will be verifying his virtuosity before any of my hard earned reaches his no doubt very long pockets.

I'll let you know how it goes.
