Alfa Romeo GT - problem with steering wheel vibration - charms1713

Just fitted new Brembo front disc and pads. Now I have severe steering wheel virbration whilst driving.

Anyone any ideas.

Do the wheels need balancing?

Checked the fitting and can't see any issues

If they were ok before why should they need balancing now it sounds as though you have not seated the discs properly consquently the wheels are not seating correctly.

Its unlikely to be anything other than wheel balance, could be you have lost a weight or the wheels have been fitted in a different position although this wouldn't cause severe vibration. Try changing the wheels round or fitting the rear ones on the front.

He has only changed the front so only the front wheels have been removed if they did not need balancing before they should not need it know no matter where they were fitted. So its something thats been done or not done they may have lost a weight but I doubt it .Badley balanced wheels should only show when the speed is above 55mph through the hands on the steering wheel for front wheel problems and through ones bottom for rear wheels.

If you did not have the problem before, fitting is the likely cause.

You did clean the hub bearing surfaces where the disks mount ? You did ensure all shims were correctly replaced? You did keep a diagram of how they were when removed?

If not, it is possible dirt has been introduced between hub and disk screwing up tracking.
