Ford Mondeo, 2.0 TDCi Mk3, 06 Reg. - Glove Compartment help - Peter

I need to change a fuse in the central fuse box behind the glove compartment.

The manual states I must open the glove box, move a lever at the back to the left and then ease the box out. However, I cannot locate a lever and before I start ripping things apart does anyone know if Ford carried out a modification in the later cars to remove the lever or does a simpler method exist.

The Haynes manual shows a hand moving a lever but not in my car, a recess exists for said lever. May I assume also it might have been broken of?

Thanks in advance.

On the left at the top when it is open, there is a strut that lowers the glovebox down slowly. Where it connects to the box, pull it off using the leverl.

Many thanks for your reply but I do not have a strut or lever in my car. Can I assume, when the box is down that I can sqeeze the sides and pull the box out.

Thanks

Yeah, just do that and pull it gently off the hinges one by one. If you don't see a strut then someone else has broken it before you!

Many thanks for youe comments.

The strut existed, the last owner had secured it to one side, out of use, out of sight and out of mind.

Thanks
