Its always nice to share a positve experience

At some point my 17 year old pride and joy (Jag XJS Celebration) collected a horrid bit of paintwork damage on front left wing, I won't even described as a chip, it was worse than that. I suspect that someone working on the car dropped a spanner on it, but since it was spotted 1 week after the said work a year or so ago, I can't prove it. It was two pieces of damage each about the size of a penny (bit smaller), where the paint was off down to the primer. It looked horrid, and was getting worse as it aged.

Richard Carter, local Franchise of Chips Away was next door giving neighbour a quote so I asked him to have a look. He was reluctant to tackle it, concerned a) as to the difficulty of good colour match and b) as to the effectiveness of repair possible. In the end I had to pursuade him to give it a go, on the basis that even the worst case scenario he was describing was going to be an improvement over what was an ugly bit of damage

He not once put any pressure on me to commit to the business, in fact I had to pursuade him.

He did the work and all I can say is I can't even see where the damage was now, it is perfect, excellent! the cost? £90 inc VAT. I am a very happy man.

I know it is a franchise, but in case of Richard, I can whole heartedly recommend him to anyone in the herts area, mind you he's based in Essex so probably covers a pretty wide region.

Neighbour is also very happy with the work done there, in fact I learned neighbour has used him before.

I used them last year - deep gouges, paint work + a couple of scuffed alloys. Did a good job as far as I was concerned, but more importantly it passed the "back to leasing co" test.

Thumbs up from me!

Our chips away guy in Reading is very good, but he is now so expensive, it is no longer a minor damage repair business, as you might as well go to a normal body shop.

We asked Dent Devils to fix a couple of parking dings inflicted on the Jazz drivers door, right on the swage line. Very conspicuous. One appeared a few days ago so the door was starting to invite further attention. One dent nearly removed, but an internal plate in the door prevented access from behind. The other, now not noticeable unless you know. Gavin said no charge! He wasn't satisfied with the result. Now that's something you don't always expect. BTW, they make it clear they do not do paint work. Just damage to the metal.
