SAAB 9-3 Convertible - door locking - cd65

The central locking has stopped working. I thought it was the keys but when the garage programmed a new one that would not work either. They then wanted to charge £700 to change a bit in the car. Does this seem reasonable. Would it be possible to do this as a DIY job. Many thanks for any help
