1997 Peugeot 406 - Removing motor in door mirrors. - Sabreman

Yesterday I started to replace the outside temperature sensor on my Nov. '97 406. I got the mirror out as described in Haynes but then found that the mirror motor was mounted differently to how it was described in the manual. The manual shows the motor mounted on the outside (i.e. easily accesible and removable side) of the mirror inner frame whereas mine is mounted behind it even tho' the screws are readily accessible. It looks as if I will have to remove the back of the mirror to get at the motor and thence to the temp. sensor.

I cannot find any reference to this procedure in Haynes. Any suggestions welcome.

On the equivilent Citroens you can prise the sensor out from below the mirror, don't know your car but it seems hard work to have to remove the mirror.

Thanks, but there is no way to get to the sensor without unscrewing it's bracket which lies under the mirror motor. It all happens inside unfortunately !!

My 99-02 406 manual does show the motor behind the behind the mirror mounting which is held on with three, what look like torx screws, maybe you have the later type mirror.

Have had the car since it was a year old so I assume it was on the break point of model upgrades.. It was kind of you to respond BUT, how do I get the sodding motor out to get at the sensor !! Undoing the screws does not help because the motor is still trapped behind the mirror internal frame. Looks like the way in is round the back i.e. taking the back of the mirror off.

Any help appreciated.

Can't help I'm afraid, I have done several Citroen ones and I just prised them out from the bottom of the mirror, cut the leads and soldered the new ones to them. I have on '01, 406 so hope I don't get your trouble. You could try :
