any - Advance warning; expected A24 disruption in Epsom - Muggy

Hopefully this will be of use to some of you:

According to one of our local councillors the 152 year old railway bridge over the A24 East Street in Epsom is to be replaced over Easter.

The A24 will be closed both ways between the junction with the B284 Hook Road and the A2022 Upper High Street for a total of two weeks - the week before and the week after Easter.

It appears that the official diversion route has been drawn up by someone in an office with no knowledge of the width of local roads; it is Church Road and Upper High Street. This may be OK for one direction, southbound, but not both ways. I would suggest northbound traffic should turn left at the Spread Eagle crossroad and use Waterloo Road, Chase Road and then a right onto the B284 Hook Road ( but beware of the low arch bridge at this location ).

At any rate, even though this is during a school holiday period I would advise allowing a lot of extra time for any journey which cannot avoid going through Epsom in the period in question.
