peugeot 206 petrol - peugeot 206 faut code p0420 catalst - scrapmetal

Hi, anyone had experience wit this code on above car? read a few things about only using a genuine cat on the car as pattern ones dont work? engine light is on and will not turn off! this code is permanent, thanks in advance for any help.

All 3 way cats work in pretty much the same way. You simply have to make a reasonable job of picking the right flow capacity for the engine. If the cat is known(!) to be good, look further upstream. Are the O2 sensors working (they are pretty durable)? There should be two-one upstream and one downstream of the cat.

After that, you need to investigate the MAF. I have to say though, the first thing I would do is get an MOT style emissions test down. The results are very useful for fault finding.
