Citroen grand C4 Picasso - Yes or No - jamesg67

I asked recently for advice about a fullsize mpv to carry the kids & dogs around. We have decided to take a different approach and take a shortterm option of compact mpv as we never travel with the kids & the dogs all at the same time, otherwise we would need a proper minibus. I'm currently driving an FRV which is wonderful but i need the extra seat, plus i'm sick of the kids riding upfront with me. I drove a 1.8 Manual c4 yesterday & it drove very nicely, well weighted steering, comfortable ride, it didnt crash through potholes like my Sports FRV and was generally impressed. So the question is? if i stay away from the Auto box, i can get a 5speed manual vtr+ with 15000 miles for £8k. Does it look a good option for everyday running around with the family onboard. Its going to be used as a loadlugger and will take a bit of a hammering occasionally but will cover hardly any mileage, hence the petrol option.

Thoughts please everyone...

On a tight budget, you won't do much better. There is a lot of sn*****ing regarding French cars in general and electrical gremlims in particular. The latter is not entirely unfounded, but you'll struggle to get a similar age/spec if you go German or Japanese.Bullet proof engineering is a bit of a myth. Unless you have good reason not to, I'd stick with the manual. Traditional torque converter autos are sluggish and thirsty although robust and smooth. The CVT and dual clutch alternatives are dearer and very expensive if things go wrong.
