Audi A4 2001 (95-01 series) - Concert stereo knackered volume control - baffled1

The volume control on our Concert stereo is kaput. This seems common with such cars. As all such concert stereos seem to suffer this fault, is there a later Audi stereo that fits and does not have this issue or do I need to fit a Kenwood etc? Any suggestions gratefully received.....
