Peugeot 406 1.9td - Peugeot 406 1.9td idle revs too high. - Hairychested

Hello,

My Pug is idling around 1050rpm, waaay too fast I believe. I never noticed as I was doing motorway and traffic-free miles till recently, now the traffic jams affect me it's been noticed. How can I adjust them down? In layman's terms please as I'm an ignorant here :-)

I slackened the throttle cable totally (disconnected it from thr arm) but the revs remained as high.

Does anybody know?

Thanks.

In the 405 the 1.9 had a completely mechanical pump and adjustments could be made although they were rarely if ever needed it, your's I believe has electronic management in which case there are no adjustments and you will need to get the fault codes read in order to find the problem.

If by any chance yours does have a mechanical pump it will have a throttle cable connected to it and probably an adjustment on the throttle lever, I suspect though the fact that it needs adjusting indicates that it doesn't.
