i have oil in the edder tank. thick black oil. its not over flowing and doesnt seem to be pressurised so im not thinking the head gasket and there is no water in the oil although it is low on the dip stick. i had this problem on an audi and have heard there is something simular on these.

The oil cooler radiator matrix is often an integral part of the main radiator, normally at the bottom, not sure if this is the case with an Astra, have a look at what hoses got the rad, oil cooler hoses are of a smaller diameter than normal coolant hoses.

The name is "Header tank" if you need to ask at garage.

It is not in the rad it is a separate unit. You need to remove it and have it pressure tested. Regards Peter
