2010 Audi A5 2.0tdi Cabriolet - electric handbrake - barrel

Help! Is there an adjustment on the Audi A5 electronic handbrake? When on holiday in Cornwall and stopping on steep hills the electronic handbrake would release but the car would roll backwards unless I rode the clutch and increased the revs. I have only had this car a few weeks and live in the Fens ie no hills. Is it the driver or the handbrake that needs adjusting? Awaiting your advice with thanks.

Hello, take your car back to the dealer let them have a look and sort the problem out or if you did anything wrong they should explain this to you.Just read your post.

I am not sure I understand your problem. If you let any handbrake off on an upward hill the car will roll back. Regards Peter

I think the OP meant the handbrake released without him touching it.

If the OP is talking about the auto release then it just takes some time to get used to it. You apply the brake and when you want to move off you just go and it will release. if you hesitate, pussy foot, it will roll back. Regards Peter

Thanks for your advice Peter, I guess it's as you and Dutchie say it's just a case of getting used to it and having the confidence to just go for it. ie more revs and release the clutch quicker.

My neighbour has a very long and steep drive and recenly purchased an A5, I was just off out and I noticed him struggling, and stalling the car whilst he was trying to move the car up into his garage. I stopped and gave him the 'tutorial', once he grasped that his goal was to travel up into the garage, not just temp the handbrake to let go, he cracked the problem. Regards Peter
