Hello,

Does any one possess the technical expertise to replace an EGR valve on an A6 1.9 TDi? I felt the only tools I would require would be a couple of spanners and 5mm / 6mm Allen keys till I ran into trouble with 3 hex bolts - These are proving the hardest bolts to access and I am worried I might snap or break something else if I continue.

I am stuck with the bottom hex bolt on the intake manifold and the 2 hex bolts underneath the EGR valve, I can barely get my hands anywhere near them. Is there something else that needs to come off to gain access or am I lacking some specialist tool or quite frankly the know how? I have looked up clips on YouTube but most relate to American cars and looks nothing like an Audi's.

Have you tested the EGR valve, are you sure it is faulty. I have the drawings for this set up, I assume you have an AWX engine code 1.9 TD PD engine. Post up you email adress and I'll send them to you. Regards Peter

Hello Peter,
Yes the valve is definitely defective, as Audi had brought this to my attention 8 months ago.
It's coated in a thick black oily sediment and doesn't look healthy particularity the solenoid bit.

It it possible to get to it from underneath.

Is the EGR was part of the manifold its just that I saw one being replaced in a Audi main dealers and they had removed the manifold.

Engine code required. It's in the service hand book or on the ID ladel in the spare wheel bay 3 letters to the LHS og the - - - Regards Peter
