Renault Clio - Insurance write-off but all cosmetic damage - Gemz87

The Clio is a 1.2 51 plate Expression, they've offered me £1700 or £1350 and the car.

It was a no fault accident, someone decided to drive into the side of my car. All the damage is cosmetic.
A large garage has estimated repairs at £1300 so insurers have said it's a write-off. I do not want to keep the car really but equally, if it's restored I know it will sell locally for £2000-£2300 as small cars aren't easy to come by where I live and I've had a quote from a smaller garage to fix it for £700

What do I need to be aware of if I keep the car and get the scratches fixed then sell it? I have to tell people that it's been written off?

There ar different catagories of write off according to the damage, I can't remember what they are but I'm sure someone will be along to tell you. If there is no structural damage it shouldn't be a problem.

If no blame is attached to you, I think you could make them repair it, I can't understand why they would give you £1700 if the repairs are only going to cost £1300 - I would ask if I were you.
