Hi,

Anyone know the sequence to extinguish the "service now" caption which appears on dash at startup?

Thanks,

Mike.

Sit in your car and close all the doors. Press and hold the trip reset button on the instrument display and whilst doing so switch on the ignition. Then turn the clock setting button to the right. The service indicator will now be reset.....

It's the same on my Skoda Octavia and Superb (letting go of the trip reset on ign on). Be aware if you do this on a car with variable length service intervals it may fix them from now on (10,000 miles in the case of my Superb).

Absolutely correct. You can reset the service indicator by the above method if you are on fixed service intervals, but if you are on variable you will need diagnostic equipment.

Alternatively you could find someone who has VCDS (formerly known as Vagcom). It's PC based diagnostic software that will access all modules on all VAG vehicles, and even performs functions that the VW 5051/5052 tool will not.

Check out http://briskoda.net/forums/forum/23-diagnostics-vcds/ for someone close to you. Most people will help you in exchange for one or two beer tokens. I don't know where you are, but I'm in Hampshire and I do have VCDS, and can help you if you need.....

Merging the two and making the thread title more generic may aid searches.
